A Woodland Retreat

It all started with trying to locate a new tennis court on a property in Locust Valley. But when we discovered an old orchard buried in woodland complete with an apple cellar embedded in the hillside, we took advantage of the situation.
On the existing apple cellar (a concrete cube with a door) we added a rustic Adirondack style shelter on top of it . This provided a sheltered prospect from which to view the new pond.
Paths permeate and traverse around the new pond and surrounding woods allowing for comfortable walks on warm summer evenings.
Recirculating water emerges from a dense cluster of rhododendron and babbles down to the pond entering over a fall.
